I was listening to net@nite, one of my podcasts I am into and they played this track. Thought it was pretty sweet. I went to Pete Miser' s Website to check it out and saw the video. I love the way he edited the iphone guy so that he is singing the song. I don't own an iPhone but I do got an ipod touch and I must say, I feel some of his enthusiasm Check it out!
I know, I been posting a lot of nerdcore stuff lately. Can't help it. It's what I been listening to and I keep finding little gems here and there that I really come to love. However. I'm going to Seattle in February to see one of my fav fav fav artists ever. DJ Shadow. I listen to him frequently on my ipod. You know what I like about his music the most? The way he goes about his art. He looses himself in the quiet lonely basement of record stores, slowly scrawling through lost and forgotten records of the past looking for just the right sound.
Its like he is returning the glory of past of long gone artist and revitalizing them to a new sound. Giving them one last chance to reach our ears and give meaning to their existence. I think there is something noble in that. Here is one of my favorite tracks.
And really, who doesn't like a little vampire girl? :)
So. Once opon a time I had an old beat up PC. It's life was in a decline and was soon replaced by a fancy new high end PC at the time. My new PC took any remaining components in that sorry old case and I banished the scraps to the nether regions of my closet. There it sat for six months gathering dust.
This was probably ten years or so ago. I started to get an interest in MAME and old game ROM's. I was playing them on my fancy computer here and there and my roommate at the time had takin a liking to sitting around and playing old skool. As did I. I had an idea, that old computer in the back of my closet still had a usable video card and the motherboard still worked. I also had an extra monitor so, I spend a weekend putting together a little MAME machine that I could hook up to my TV and play some of those ROM's in our living room. Breathed new life in that PC and had many of hours of games from my childhood. Went on for a year till the motherboard went bad. My whole point to this story is that I listened to this song, and it took me back to that period of my life. This is 1337 G33K B3AT - Emulation Station.
